After studying art photography at the University of California, Santa Barbara Nicky began her career in 1997 as staff photographer at Redferns Music Picture Library in London. In 2000 Nicky went freelance, continuing to shoot music events and promo photography for artists, and working closely for a number of years with bands including Scissor Sisters , The Cribs and The Vaccines. Nicky also spent 3 years assisting fashion photographers David Sims, Bronwyn Kidd, and Matthew Donaldson where she learned studio skills and a high level of craft in pre and post-production from some of the best in the business.
Nicky is a regular contributor at Getty Images and now shoots both editorial and commercial work, focusing on portraiture, fashion, music, and events. She is able to achieve high standards of crafted light with minimum equipment, which has earned her recognition in the industry for her exceptional beauty portraits, taken in seconds behind the scenes at London Fashion week.
More recently Nicky has worked with clients including Sophia Webster, Nike, adidas, Coca-Cola, Red Light Management, Royal Ascot, Professor Brian Cox, The Fratellis and The Dot Project.
Nicky’s experience has armed her with the skills to be commanding in the studio, or highly discreet when shooting behind the scenes.
