Bette believes in the power of photography to engage, inspire and educate. She has worked with major organisations to create authentic photographic identities, using photography to tell the untold stories of their business in the most visually insightful way. 


Biography


During her thirty plus years of working in editorial photography, Bette has developed a reputation for offering a unique insight into the stories that matter.  As Director of Photography at Getty Images News she built an award winning news team who were driven to look for the untold story, to create content that was impactful and to continuously differentiate the company brand from its competitors.

The extensive knowledge and experience Bette has gained throughout her work journey to date ensures that her ideas and attention to detail from interpretation through to execution and delivery are unrivalled.


Women By Women for ActionAid

Over the last ten months Bette has collaborated with ActionAid to develop and deliver a photographic concept and campaign. The charity were keen to look at the visual representation of their work across the global south and how they could create a much stronger photographic identity, a more impactful and modern message to their supporters.

There are thousands of women and girls who are making a huge difference in their communities, who lead inspiring lives, working tirelessly for the empowerment of the women around them and Bette wanted to capture this in a very different way from the type of photography we usually associate with charities. She asked ActionAid to commit to only using women photographers but also wanted to take this a step further and to only use women photographers from the global south, allowing them to develop and create stories of the women living around them with truth and authenticity. With a desire to give a platform and voice to those society often ignores Women by Women was born, celebrating the lives of women in front of and behind the lens from Afghanistan, South Africa, DRC, Uganda and Guatemala. A campaign which has been incredibly well received from the media and the wider photographic and third sector industries.
