Before I was born my dad worked in a camera shop and photographed the odd wedding. This meant he had photography equipment that I started to play with when I was about 10. I annoyed family, friends and pets by taking too many photos, and then printing them in a darkroom my dad had set up in a cupboard at my grandma’s. This then became a business I set up at school.  I’d take studio pictures of pupils at break, printing them in the science block’s darkroom at lunch.

I recently received a message from an old school friend on Facebook – ‘and to think…..it all began as a business enterprise project at school !! I still have those photos !!’. I never studied photography or had a career plan, it’s just something I’ve always done and how great that years later people still have my photos. It’s addictive and exciting. It connects me to people in a unique way and tells a story that, at it’s best, is a true story covering the best and most most precious parts of life. I work for magazines and commercial clients around the world, but I still annoy family, friends and especially pets (my dogs are like professional models !). I just really like taking photos.

Testimonials

"I have been lucky enough to work with Liz on several large campaigns over the years including Oxfam, Department of Education, Bose and Seasalt to name but a few. Her energy and enthusiasm she brings to each shoot and her ability to adapt her style to suit the different magazine brands at Hearst is amazing. From fashion to lifestyle to portraiture Liz always manages to capture the more personal side of the subject , making her images more relatable and engaging for the viewer. Our clients have all been delighted with the images she has produced and have all said what a pleasure she is to work with." (Graham Jones, Art Director - Hearst Studio)

"I can't go on our shoots so I have to use photographers who will be my representative on set - Liz knows what I need and makes great decisions; I know I'm in a safe pair of hands with Liz."  (Sara Rumens, Features Picture Editor - The Times)

"I have asked Liz to do large scale shoots with multiple subjects when the brief often ends with 'and get whatever else  you can' and she always does, catching something, a moment, of spark and vivid expression. She gets on well with people and always adapts to the circumstances. As I have to send her in alone to dance studios, factories, coffee shop and fields the shots are always beautifully crafted and lit no matter the location." (Tracey Pocock, Picture Editor - Newhall Publishing)

"Liz has always been one of my go-to photographers for all of our celebrity, fashion & lifestyle shoots. Her warm, laid-back and friendly approach puts even the most difficult of subjects at ease and her creative quick-thinking is invaluable on-set. Myself and our editors have always been delighted with every shoot that Liz has worked on for us and her pictures are always the ones that we find ourselves coming back to time and time again!" (Laura Martindale, Picture Editor-Closer Magazine)
